Just Jam International (Jam in the streets) 25th July and 1st Aug 2010

In the summer of 2010 Bad Taste Cru teamed up with SIRF (Stockton International Riverside Festival) to bring the public Jam in the Streets, which was a new phase for Just Jam. We incorporated other art forms over the course of two weeks as part of the SIRF. There wre two separate events, as part of the outdoor arts festival, Jam in the Streets, and Just Jam International

Jam in the Streets: 25th July 2010

JustJam Junior

An under 18 competition for the Uk’s top junior bboys and bgirls, bringing the best young dancers from all over the UK to compete for the Just Jam youth title and a chance to represent themselves at Just Jam International event the next week, and also the opportunity to win the cash prize of £500. A huge dance stage area with seating for the public was erected on the high street, where the competition took place.

Skateboarding

Jam in the Streets saw a full skatepark brought to the high street of Stockton on Tees, with the north east’s finest skateboarders on hand to teach and assist any members of the public who wanted to step up and have a go on the skateboard, as well as regular skateboarding demonstrations throughout the day. Hip Hop Summer School: This year we stepped up the teaching at the Hip Hop summer school with a week long intensive workshops from Bboy legends, Roxrite (USA) and Dyzee (Canada), which was a huge treat for our students, and a massive inspiration boost for the local bboys and bgirls.

Just Jam International: 1st Aug 2010

First planned to be an outdoor event the British weather got the better of us. Despite a number of attempts to host the event outdoors on the high street, we eventually had to relocate the event indoors to the Arc arts venue, where the event ran without a hitch. We had international guests from Norway, (T-Killa), Holland, (Squares), Denmark, (Blanka), as well as an exhibition battle from bboy Legends Roxrite ( Bay Area, USA) and Dyzee (Canada). Unfortunately Roxrite injured his ankle prior to the battle and Blanka filled in for Rox and battled Dyzee in the exhibition.
