History
Bad Taste Cru are a pioneering UK Hip Hop Theatre company, battle cru, and collective of teachers, Djs, MCs, graff writers, skaters and other artists. Founded by Bboy P, in 1995, BTC became primarily a Bboy cru in 1998. Originally based in in Omagh, Northern Ireland, the cru have since relocated to Newcastle Upon Tyne, North East England, in search of opportunities to be involved in the UK dance scene. BTC have grown over the years to become one of the UKs top bboy cru's, most cutting edge Hip Hop theatre companies, and run some of the most attended and respected Bboy events on the UK scene.
Hip Hop Theatre
Bad Taste Cru are known for pushing the boundaries of Hip Hop theatre with their dance productions, which has seen them travel the world to perform at events such as San Francisco Hip Hop Festival in 2009, Breaking Convention at Sadlers Wells in 2009, and Cultural Itau, Sao Paulo Brazil 2010. Bad Taste Cru are also the first ever bboy crew to to be commissioned for the prestigious Place Prize for Contemporary dance in 2010. Education
BTC are passionate about education and culture, spreading knowledge through the positive messages of Hip Hop Culture. Over the years BTC have worked with closely with large cultural organisations such as Arts Council England, British Council, Dance City, Sage Gateshead, and national intiatives such as Find Your Talent, Creative Partnerships, Peoples Palace Projects, London. In this work BTC have successfully delivered in venues ranging from primary / secondary colleges, Universities, Pupil referral Units, ISSP's, juvenile detention centres, to outreach programs for the excluded and physically challenged, as well as bringing our education package as far as favelas of Rio De Janeiro. Commercial / Corporate Bookings
BTC present explosive and dramatic Breaking Shows for corporate and commercial events. To date BTC have done shows for corporate clients such as Nike, Sainsbury’s and Mini, to music festivals such as Glastonbury, Oxygen, Juice Festival, as well as advertising work for companies like K Swiss, JD Sports, and the Marriot Hotel Group. Battling
Renowned for their battling prowess, individuality, and family ethos, BTC have a highly decorated history of competiting in the UK and in Worldwide, by winning every major UK bboy competition over the years and representing at a high level abroad.
